The Passion of Faith
Shirley W. Mitchell, known today as "The Golden Egg of Aging™" is a Mother of Three, Grandmother of Ten and a Great-Grandmother of One. Raised in the South in Northern Alabama on a tenant cotton farm working with all her family members in the tenant cotton fields, she was writing about, and promoting, a "Positive Aging Lifestyle" before most were even thinking about it. Even at that young age, she had a "Vision and Passion" to make her life and others' lives more productive, seeing what hard, long work days and getting older did to those around her. Her life "Passion" and "Mission" is to promote "Positive Aging and Vitality in Health". She is highly recognized as one of the Top Writers and Speakers on Aging, Senior’s, Senior Lifestyle, the Baby Boomer Generation, Women's Issues and Healthy Lifestyles of Today. We call her "The Original Baby Boomer Promoter™" because of her tremendous insight years previous to the coming of the "Baby Boomer Wave of Aging Younger™".
She is the Author of 5 Books: "The Christian Writer's Desk Diary", "The Beauty of Being God's Woman", "Spiritual Sparks for Busy Women", "Fabulous after 50®" and "Sensational after 60®", and the Co-Author of 3 books - "Love Notes for Mom", "Love Notes for Dad" and "101 Great Ways To Improve Your Life", A Columnist of the "Fabulous after Fifty™" Newspaper Column in the Sand Mountain Reporter for the past 20 years, and the On-Line Syndicated Column, "Spiritual Sparks for Baby Boomers™". She is a Featured Contributing Columnist/Writer for Senior Lifestyle Magazine, Senior Evangelism Partnership and Passionate for Life Magazine. Shirley is also a member of "The Lit Chicks" Literary Writers Critique Group of Sand Mountain Alabama.

She received the "1997 Woman of Achievement Award" from the Business and Professional Women's Club; She won the "Most Stunning Smile Award" at the "2000 Ms. Senior Alabama Pageant" and most recently received the "2004 Citizen of the Year Award" from the Albertville Chamber of Commerce for her contributions to the City and Local venues. In 2006, 2007 & 2008, she was nominated for inclusion into "The Purpose Prize" with Civic Ventures in recognition of her life-long commitment to Local and National Venues. She supports groups such as the American Heart Association & the GoRed for Women Program.
She is a member of the Marshall County Business and Professional Women’s Club, National Association for Female Executives, National Association of Professional Women, National Association of Professional Women, American Business Women’s Association, Red Hat Society and the Diva Web of Fame. A Dale Carnegie Graduate, she is also a Competent Toastmaster with Toastmasters International, a member of Cambridge Who's Who and a Certified "Senior Preneur" with Senior Approved Services.

My sister, Dr. Debra K. Goodwin, Ph.D., R.D., for sharing her time, love and expertise with the latest nutritional information... Dr. Debra K. Goodwin is Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences College of Education and Professional Studies at Jacksonville State University. She is also Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics, an accredited program of the American Dietetic Association. Teaching areas include clinical nutrition, lifecycle nutrition, advanced nutrition, and food preparation. Research interests include women’s health, adolescent nutrition, and the development of healthy recipes. Dr. Goodwin is a member of the American Dietetic Association.

Walter M. Bortz II, M.D., Longevity & Healthy Aging Expert, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and a graduate of Williams College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Recognized as one of America's most distinguished scientific experts on aging and longevity. Dr. Walter Bortz's research has focused on the importance of physical exercise in the promotion of robust aging. Dr. Bortz has published over 130 medical articles and authored numerous books, including "We Live Too Short and Die Too Long", "Dare to Be 100", and "Living Longer for Dummies", and "Diabetes Danger". Dr. Bortz is past co-chairman of the American Medical Association’s Task Force on Aging, former President of The American Geriatric Society and is currently Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation, as well as a Senior Advisor to Healthy Silicon Valley, a community collaborative effort which addresses the soaring incidence of obesity and diabetes.
